The Grand Millennium Center is an approximately $200-million, 66-acre project that has been approved for a civic center, YMCA, health care facility, hotel, residential, and office development, as well as the conference/meetings facility, and is near the 400-acre Grand Park Sports Campus.

Stone Planning and The Rooney Sports and Entertainment Group completed a feasibility study for the new facility, and was later re-engaged by RMU to guide the university through the solicitation process for private management, which led to the selection of the Oak View Group. The 4,000-seat facility also has approximately 11,000 square feet of meeting/conference space and will be used by the university and community for sporting events, concerts, conferences, and other events. The arena's first public event will be an Evanescence concert on May 12.
