The Prince George’s Equestrian Center, which includes Showplace Arena, is a leading regional equestrian complex; however, the arena in particular is outdated, underused, and does not meet the needs of many users. Based on a request from the Maryland-National Capital Parks and Planning Commission (the complex’s owner and operator), the Maryland Stadium Authority commissioned a market and economic impact analysis of the complex to review and evaluate operations, management, performance, the competitive environment, and opportunities for improvements.

Along with Partners for Economic Solutions, David led the market and economic analysis that included analysis of the local and regional market, past operations of the complex and its management, the equestrian and entertainment industries, and the characteristics and operations of similar complexes. We then provided recommendations that would improve usage and decrease annual deficits, and estimated the complex’s economic impacts (historical, following a renovation, and assuming no renovations are completed).
